About

I am Bob Odhiambo, a mechatronics and automation engineer. I program and commission PLCs, work with industrial networks and VFDs, and write for Control.com and EEPower. Everything here is built and tested on real hardware.

Why this site exists

Most automation material is either a vendor manual or a course behind an expensive subscription. Bob Teaches Tech sits in between: free, practical tutorials that explain the why, with wiring diagrams, program files and the hardware each one was tested on.

What you will find here

  • Tutorials for PLCs, ladder logic, industrial networks, sensors, motion and embedded systems.
  • Courses that put lessons in order, with progress saved in your browser.
  • Interactive tools: the Ladder Lab simulator and calculators that show their working.
  • Free resources: cheat sheets, program files and books you can read in the page-turn reader.

How every tutorial is made

  • Built and run on real hardware or a named simulator, listed at the top of the tutorial.
  • Reviewed and dated when it is updated, so you know it still applies.
  • Written to be understood, not just copied: each step says what it does and why.
